Well, like Fuchka Aloo kabli chaat is another very popular dish in Bengal. There is so complication but a simple chaat of aloo and some spices can make you feel like wow.
If you are a chaat lover and haven’t tasted this one yet then do it now.
Aloo kabli chaat is basically a dish that you can have as an evening snack, this is a good option if you like spicy Indian chaat.
This is a combo of boiled also and some spices and very simple to make. This is a food which you can find almost every area in Kolkata.
But the recipe is so simple that making it at home is not a tough thing at all.
Here I’m sharing my own favourite recipe of Aloo kabli and the way I make it I’m sure you’re gonna like it.
So, without wasting any time let’s start making it,
For This Aloo Kabli Chaat, We Need,
- 3-4 boiled potatoes
- 1 onion
- 1 tomato
- 1 cucumber
- Some homemade chaat masala ( use according to your taste)
- Red chilli powder
- Some Tamarind
- Lemon juice
- Green Chillies
- Black salt
- Some chickpeas
To Make This We Need To Do Some Pre Preparation,
Boiled aloo which is the main ingredient of it. We need to peel off the Aloo and cut them into thin pieces gently.
I really wonder how the Aloo kabli walas cut them so fast. I still remember my school days I used to have aloo kabli every day after my school. The aloo kabli chaat Wala made aloo kabli just the way I like with full of spices and flavour.
But when you’re cutting the aloo cut them gently. We also need to soak the chickpeas in the water at least for 4-5 hour. Many ones use to boil the chickpeas but I love to use them like this by this way I can get the protein of it too!
Soak the tamarind in some water for some time and then mash it in the water. Then your tamarind water will get ready.
For the homemade chaat masala roast some red chilli powder, cumin powder and coriander powder in a pan. Roast till you get the smell of it and your homemade chaat masala is ready!
Chop the onions into small pieces. Cut the cucumber also in the same way. Make small pieces of green chillies for flavour. Chop the tomatoes well.
Now Start Making It,
Take a bowl and add the potatoes, the onions, the tomatoes and the cucumber pieces. Add the chickpeas into them. Add some lemon juice and some tamarind water. The quantity depends on you. You can skip the tamarind water but for the real chaat flavour, I’ll suggest you not to skip the tamarind water. Add some black salt as required and the homemade chaat masala. If you like spicier then add some red chilli powder in it. Mix everything well with a spoon. Here you have your aloo kabli chaat. Enjoy your chaat time with this mouthwatering recipe.
In, Kolkata you can find an aloo kabli Wala everywhere. From childhood, I always had a crush on this chaat. I personally like this kind of spicy kind of food so this one is really favourite to me.
The favourite part of this is the tamarind water. I just love it. I still remember when I was in school I used to have aloo kabli every day on the outside of my school. The aloo kabli Wala made Aloo kabli chaat with more tamarind water just the way I like. Now all of them are memories. But the love for Indian chaat inside me is always there.
